In a perfect world, I would have a perfect rhythm to writing the deliberate life blog.
But we all know, it’s not a perfect world.
And lately, when it has come to writing, I’ve had anything but a perfect rhythm.
Truth is, I have struggled to write. On top of that, I have struggled with the idea that I am actually struggling with this.
Writing has been a part of my DNA ever since I can remember. It’s something I’ve made a living doing in the corporate world for more than 30 years. I often joke that I think through my fingers. But, these days, I’m having a hard time converting my thoughts into keystrokes.
I’m sharing this for a couple of reasons:
One, to let you know that I haven’t forgotten about the blog or about you amazing people who have said “yes” to subscribing to the deliberate tribe newsletter. I am learning patience with life (and myself) and I do believe a rhythm will come.
But most importantly, I’m sharing it because—given my writer’s block—I’ve been finding myself doing short videos on Facebook. And I’ve lived to tell about it.
In fact, if you had told me a year ago that I would be posting a Vlog (video blog) on Facebook instead of writing a blog, I would have called you crazy. While I have shied away from social media, I have not been shy about sharing my anxiety about it. I still have A LOT to learn about life online. But thing is, I am taking baby steps to test the waters. Not because I love social media, but because I am passionate about encouraging others and about sharing the power of the deliberate life and the amazing love of God.
So right now, I am celebrating progress over perfect. And I’m encouraging you to do the same in your own life: celebrate your progress!
Sometimes, baby steps are all we can muster.
But baby steps are still steps.
And any amount of progress is still progress—
especially when it comes to breaking through our fears.
Friends, we are all afraid of something (or some things). But there is much to be said for doing it afraid.
Growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone...and the great news is that God is waiting for you there! He has your back, he has your future, and he cares about you. No matter what your fears—big or small—you can be assured that God is with you every step of the way. Nothing—no thing—can separate you from his love!
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
